"Forecasting Future Scientists at Maurice W. Downing! 

It was a breezy morning for our Kindergarteners as they welcomed Meteorologist Samantha Augeri for an unforgettable, hands-on science assembly that turned our youngest learners into junior meteorologists. 

During Sam's Weather School, students explored science behind why the wind blows and witnessed the incredible power behind major storms through engaging, high-energy demonstrations.

By bringing the curriculum to life through these hands-on experiences, we continue to foster the curiosity and discovery that define our school community. We may very well have some future meteorologists in the making right here in our classrooms!

"Sam's Weather School was in session at TJL and it was a storm of fun!

Emmy Award-winning Meteorologist Samantha augeri brought the weather to life for our students with her high-energy, hands-on demonstrations using real forecasting tools and interactive experiments. Students even stepped into the role of meteorologists themselves, reporting the weather and seeing their forecasts come to life on the big screen!

"Locust Valley Intermediate school had a wonderful opportunity to see what it takes to be a broadcast meteorologist, while also enjoying the fun of recreating major weather events on a small scale. Samantha Augeri, and Emmy Award-winning Meteorologist with nearly two decades of experience, taught students about wind patterns, types of clouds, and high and low pressure systems as part of her Sam's Weather school program. Students observed extreme weather conditions through a tornado machine and got to try their hand at being a television weatherperson using a green screen.

Students learned about weather systems, including tornadoes and hurricanes, through hands-on demonstrations designed to make meteorology fun and accessible. 

During the visit, students learned how meteorologists predict the weather and why accurate forecasting is so important. They even stepped into the role of meteorologists themselves, delivering a weekly weather report in front of the green screen. 

Through exciting experiments, such as creating a tornado in a box using dry ice, and examining weather tools, students gained a deeper understanding of how weather forms and why scientists study it."

"Stratford  Road 4th grade students enjoyed an exciting, hands-on science experience with Sam's Weather School, presented by Meteorologist Samantha Augeri. Through interactive demonstrations and experiments, students explored how weather forms and why it changes, from sunny skies to powerful tornadoes! Samantha drew on her experience as a broadcast meteorologist to inspire students to think like scientists, and ask questions and observe the weather around them. The visit was both fun and educational, bringing Earth science to life in an engaging and memorable way."

Third-grade students at Boyle Road Elementary School in the Comsewogue School District are diving into their weather and climate science unit. To gain a real-world perspective and deepen their knowledge, they recently welcomed a special guest with over a decade of experience in the field. Former News 12 meteorologist Samantha Augeri recently visited the school to lead an engaging, hands-on presentation that brought meteorology to life for the young scientists.

“The students were absolutely captivated,” said Boyle Road Elementary School Principal Dr. Nicole Sooknanan. “This experience not only deepened their understanding of weather and climate but also showed them how what they learn in class connects to exciting real-world careers.” 

During the interactive session, students explored key scientific concepts such as cloud formation, air pressure, temperature and weather patterns through exciting demonstrations and experiments. Ms. Augeri connected classroom learning to real-world applications, showing how these concepts help meteorologists make sense of the weather we experience every day. 

In addition to the science lesson, Ms. Augeri shared personal insights about her career in broadcast meteorology. She explained what it takes to become a meteorologist, how forecasts are created and the advanced tools and technology used to study the atmosphere.

"Special weather lesson for Bethpage's elementary students! Emmy Award-winning meteorologist Samantha Augeri brought Sam's Weather School to our youngest learners, teaching them about tornadoes, hurricanes, and how weather works. Students got hands-on with real meteorological tools, conducted experiments, and even tried being meteorologists themselves in front of a green screen!

"Our Kindergarten and first graders at Rhame were treated to a visit by a special guest who taught them all about weather! Meteorologist Sam Augeri joined our young science scholars for an amazing lesson that amazed, inspired, and made them all want to be a meteorologist when they grow up! Ms. Augeri showed the students a wind machine, made a tornado in a bottle and had an amazing pop-up book about  weather. She talked about all kinds of weather that we get on Long Island and how they track weather patterns based on oceans and storms, We were so happy to have her as a guest in our classrooms and look forward to using the knowledge we gained in our future science studies."
